Good Morning Cheryl,

Thank you for all your hard work in constructing your web site. I go out with two other men
at the experimental station in Hardee County Fl. University of Florida staffs the 1000 acrea
and work on different grasses, trees, etc.

John Maddox is our leader and he has set up 22 blue bird house and we monitor the nest during the time from eggs to chicks and finally leave the nest. The egg harvest last year
was excellent and had an average of four eggs a nest. We had five nest will five eggs.

Snakes were a problem this year. John had been monitoring the bird houses for over 13 years. We are blessed every time we go, when occasional doe and fawns will be in the bush. Fox squirrel is so beatiful. Had a four foot gator on the dirt road last trip.

Thank you again for your interest in the birds of Florida. I pray you have someone in your
team, will pick up where you left off, when retirement rolls around. All the guys on our
team is retired and we are so blessed for the privilege to witness Mother Nature at her
best.

HI, I found your site as I am trying to identify a bird that is in my area. I thought it was a large hawk then after I uploaded the photo I'm now not too sure on it. I live in Wesley Chapel Florida, sounds close to where you might be... If you are able to help me, please let me know. thank you.

Just moved to Cape Coral from Boston, and I was trying to find a web resource to accurately identify some of the unique and interesting birds I've seen in the area. This site is perfect for that! Thanks for the efforts!

Red breasted hawk?
Jenni 10-Jun-2012 01:43
Christina... Your "blue" bird could possibly be an indigo bunting. I live in Jacksonville and see them in my back yard often. The painted buntings are quite spectacular as well.

I am so glad to find your site! I am a transplant from California and have never been very fascinated by birds previously. But I have seen so many here in Florida without even trying. Today I saw a Male bringing his Female mate a worm after a light rain. It touched my heart, and I tried to find out the name of the birds...no luck! Then I saw them ONLY on your site after much research. I had never realized that Cardinals are not necessarily red. My pair look exactly like your wonderful photos. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work because I plan to visit often as I becomed more involved. (Sorry this is so long; can you tell that I am excited?!?)

Hi - I am in the land o lakes area - I have a very small bird whose identification is stumping me - less than 4 inches - grey and ivory - not a parula. very small and quick. slender pointy beak.

it seems to small to be a gnat catcher per my bird books but it might be one.

the last couple of days I have seen a very small thin bird in my yard, same size as an eastern bluebird, but the blue is more indigo, I looked thru your pics but cannot seem to identify it, any ideas

We just moved to FL and I bought a Birds of America book and just started bird watching and today took my first photograph. I don't have a very good camera. I was looking for the bird I saw on the internet and came across your photo gallery. Its wonderful. I still haven't identified the bird, but I saw pictures of other birds that I have not documented yet. Your photos are so great I know my won't compare to yours, but it was wonderful seeing the quality and variations that you have photographed. Thank you.

Your pictures are fantastic! I just moved to the Tampa area from Clarksville, TN, and love photography. Last year I really had time to pursue my love for photography and had the privilege of photographing a nest of eagles in KY. It was an amazing venture! Since I just moved here I am very interested in learning about the birds in Florida and your website was just what I needed! The information you have included is of great help for identifying all the wonderful birds here. Thanks so much! Do you give any photo classes?

Paul ~

I became a bird lover out in Arizona when a Phoebe Says Fly Catcher built her nest on top of a ceiling fan on my porch. We got to witness her and her mate feed and care for these little babies until they took their first flight 14 days after they hatched. I have some adorable photos but nothing like these. It gave me a whole new perspective about birds and I love to watch all kinds now. Your photo's are awesome. Thank you for sharing them!
